Mark (Chambo) Chamberlain and his wife Joan have been part of the family here at Rockhampton Baptist since 2002. Prior to Chambo stepping into the Care Pastor role in February 2022, he held a number of lay-leadership roles both in the Elders and Church Council. Chambo and Joan have a deep history and connection across the Central Queensland region and have raised their 5 children – now adults – in the local area.

Chambo has completed formal studies obtaining a Bachelor of Applied Science (Biology) in the early years of his career, and more recently completed a number of subjects in Bible college. Prior to stepping into the Care Pastor position, Chambo was full-time managing the compliance, financial, and strategic priorities for Joan in her capacity as an extremely well-respected General Practitioner. Chambo now shares his time between being his role as Care Pastor, continuing to assist Joan, and enjoying being a dad and granddad.

We asked Chambo about our Church’s vision, and what aspect of it jumps out at him and he explained that, “he loves the connection and flow of our Church’s vision” and that, “he resonates with all three components – following Jesus, making disciples, and building relationships”. Chambo thrives on seeing the Church family engage with people on their frontlines, and hearing about how powerful sharing the Gospel with people around us can be when it becomes part of our ‘spiritual DNA’.

Chambo loves the variety of ministries that comprise the Church family here at Rockhampton Baptist, and continues to be encouraged by the obvious expression of the transforming power of the Lord in people throughout our community. Chambo has a heart for care, and cherishes the loving and caring nature of our Church family, he shared that he, “loves seeing people find their spiritual fit and their identity within the Church family”, going on to say that he, “loves seeing people finding their definition, purpose, and meaning to live in Christ”.

Chambo is energised from connecting with people, so be encouraged to look for him on your next visit to Rockhampton Baptist.
