Rockhampton Baptist has a genuine heart for Rockhampton and the communities in which we live. Our Church family is intentional in connecting with those around us in our day-to-day lives, but also through a range of deliberate ministries that reach out to our local community by sharing the love of Jesus and the hope He brings.
Part of our vision here at Rockhampton Baptist is to follow the example Jesus set and share the Gospel message to those around us in order to make disciples, and encourage people to be renewed through the power of the Holy Spirit in their lives. Our desire to connect with our local community in reaching out to share the Good News is something that we feel very passionate about, and an aspect of our Church family that we seek to continue to grow in together.
Kids Hope
Rockhampton Baptist is an active partner of the Kids Hope Australia programme, and our Church family facilitates this ministry with the support of Glenmore State Primary School. Kids Hope is a simple, yet profoundly impactful ministry that connects one adult with one child, who share one hour together each week. This mentoring ministry provides opportunity for kids to experience love and belonging, and build confidence as they develop positive relationships with their mentor. Kids Hope continues to be a significant ministry of Rockhampton Baptist, and not only encourages the kids involved, but their families, as well as the mentors from across our Church family.
Breakfast Club
Breakfast Club is a ministry delivered with the support of Glenmore State Primary School that provides practical love and support for kids who arrive at school – for whatever reason – needing some extra food in their bellies. Our Church family coordinates Breakfast Club of a Wednesday and Thursday morning before school starts to share a no-strings-attached breakfast with students, create and build healthy relationships with the kids, and encourage them with a kind word and welcoming smile as they start their day. Whilst this ministry is simple in nature, its positive impact on the kids, teachers, and wider school community is overwhelmingly clear!
Coffee Connect
Coffee Connect is a ministry delivered with the support of Glenmore State Primary School designed to connect more broadly with the school community including teachers, support staff, parents, and care-givers. The Coffee Connect team arrive well before the start of school on a Friday and set-up ready to serve hot and cold barista quality beverages from Rockhampton Baptist Coffee Trailer (which is also used to serve barista coffee after Sunday services). This ministry aims to create and build positive relationships between our Church family and the school community, allow time and space for spiritual conversations, and to share a smile and bring joy to our local community.
Religious Instruction
Our Church family has been an integral part of the establishment, and continued operation of Christian Religious Instruction in primary schools across the Rockhampton Region for many years. Within the structure and organisation of Rockhampton Baptist, through a separate Board with representation from partner Churches from across Rockhampton and the Capricorn Coast, paid Instructors are employed, trained, and supervised in the delivery of Christian Religious Instruction. Paid Instructors share the Gospel message in state primary schools from Marmor to Byfield, and from Gogango to Farnborough – with all students in classes from year 1 through to year 6 having the opportunity to hear the Good News!
Living Word Bookstore
The Living Word Bookstore has been synonymous with Rockhampton Baptist for many years, with its beginnings being traced back to Bibles being sold from the boot of a car in Campbell Street after Church of a Sunday. The ministry of the Bookstore grew quickly, and the shopfront was established soon after, allowing the range of Christian products to continue to expand. The Living Word Bookstore continues to this day, to be an active and vibrant ministry of Rockhampton Baptist, and remains to be a place where people from our Church family, other Churches across Central Queensland, and those from the local community can come and be welcomed, browse a brilliant range of Christian resources, Bibles, gift lines, and more, and be encouraged as they leave the store. The Living Word Bookstore is open from 9am to 4 pm Tuesday to Friday, and 9am to 12pm on Saturdays. The Bookstore is also open after Church on the first Sunday of each month, or you can check them out online.
